A Wall and a Half... Seriously.

My husband and I drove out to our lot today. We skipped yesterday hoping that there would be a ton of progress today. Our PM told us that the framers would be working through the weekend to get caught up. Apparently it takes two days to put up a wall and a half. At this rate my house should be done by 2015.... maybe.
My wall and a half. This is the back garage wall with the cut-out for the service door.

In case you think I'm joking, here's a wide shot of our lot with our lonely wall and a half.

To lighten up the mood, I thought I would model the shower for you.

  1. Seriously?? This is the slowest I have ever seem them frame! Usually once they begin to friend, it's ON!! I hope they jump on it this week and you will come by to see at least two floors complete. Fingers crossed!

  2. They are holding off since I have your stairs here ;-)

It looks like a fine job with the wall and a half though! They still have tomorrow to work on it, so leave some doughnuts in the shower.

Still though, I would have been tempted to do a Hulk or my favorite Reagan scene for the lack of work.

"Reagan Smash! Reagan Smash!" I love that Reagan guy! Don't ask me how many times I watched the video clip tonight though, cause it was a lot!

  3. Sorry to hear there wasn't much progress for you:( Maybe they will work all day today. It's amazing what they can get done in a day!

  4. Sorry, and it looks like I'm alone here, but I would be livid. In fact, I'm kind of livid for you. What I find extraordinarily comical is the fact that Ryan Homes has marketed your blog this week, so if future customers are checking out their online marketing campaign (ie, your blog), THIS is the kind of lack of progress they are seeing. Quite frankly, if I were to see your blog and was considering buying in your neighborhood/area, I would think again. You're either being blatantly lied to by your PM or their carpenters are completely unreliable. Either way, your experience is beyond unacceptable. In your shoes, I would probably be writing some letters by now and asking for some assistance in staying on schedule. If it's your PM, ask for another one. At the very least, considering the repeated broken promises to make progress on your home, your PM should be giving you daily updates going forward. You're not just paying for a home, you're paying for good customer service and you're just not receiving it right now.

  5. Ditto, I don't know if I would be livid but I would certainly look for someone to talk to that will get true explanation, change of PM. I have not seen that kind of thing in our area. Did you work with a Buyers Agent ( Realtor) they can be helpful to keep builders on task...or suppose to.

  9. Damn, I'm going into a lunch meeting in 10 minutes!!! We are headed out to see our place today, so I'll probably post an update tonight or tomorrow. It looks like they put the roof on yesterday and should be pouring the basement slab this week.
