Still No Framing

I am feeling a little discouraged lately. My husband and I keep making the hour round-trip drive out to our lot to check out the framing. Every time we pull up and see no progress, our hearts sink a little. We originally thought our framing would start on May 29th. We assumed this because our plumbing was installed and our framing was delivered during the week of May 21st-25th. Well that didn't happen. Upon contacting our PM, he told us that the framers were finishing up in another community and that we were next. He said they should start on Friday, June 1st. Well we had a pretty bad storm and that didn't happen. So we drove out there on Saturday and still nothing. I texted my PM yesterday and he told me that they should start today. He said they may only have everything laid out today and not actually start framing until tomorrow. My husband and I drove out there anyway and it was obvious that nothing was done. Our framing was delivered about two weeks ago so we (meaning me) are getting a little impatient. I'm super excited for this stage because this is when our house will actually start to take shape. It doesn't help that there are other bloggers out there that were a week or two behind us and now they have framed homes! Congrats to you guys, btw :)

Keep your fingers crossed for me that we finally see some action tomorrow!

  1. Ugh, I was so hoping you would get to enjoy walking through your home for the first time today!!! I'll cross my fingers for tomorrow. I have to say, I'd be pretty irritated, too, in your shoes. You were a good week ahead of us and you have been more than patient. It might not hurt to call your PM and ask for an update so you don't waste another trip. The good news, though, is that the framing process really moves quickly, so if they start tomorrow or Thursday, you'll have a nice home to walk through by Saturday.

  2. I hope they start tomorrow and work fast for you guys! We have a little over an hour round trip to our site too and it's so hard not to go out there! We are trying to stick to once a week...supposed to start framing tomorrow so it's going to be a hard few days!

  4. Put doughnuts out there so that they are attracted to your house first and start framing :-)

    2. Too funny. We are actually going over tomorrow to check out footer prep ... and taking doughnuts. Need to get off on a good foot (pun intended).

Good luck on the framing! You need a spy in your new neighborhood so you don't have to drive so far.

    3. Yeah, we met our neighbors and I was hoping they would offer! I feel too weird about asking though.

    4. I brought over a dozen twice for our framers and they still wave at my car when I see them working on other house in the community :-) They were some of the hardest workers I have ever seen. 14 hour days to get that thing framed.

  5. We were going to bring donuts or cookies for our framers, but my framing team ended up not showing up because of some OSHA issue and they ended up putting another team on it almost a week later. I was so antsy, so I understand your pain. However, we are still settling on time. I hope they start turbo-building your house!
