At Least They Showed Up

Well the framing crew showed up today. Too bad they spent most of their time on the two houses across the street. Both houses got their trusses and their roofs installed today. I was too pissed to take a picture. All they did to our house was lay the trusses in place and installed maybe less than 10% of them. I was too pissed to even get out of the car so my husband took these pictures.

  1. CMM, I know this must be tough! I have to admit, it could be worst! We still do not have loan approval, stakes, a hole, etc. NOTHING!! Keep your CHIN UP! In the meantime, talk to your PM and ask him how the schedule is supposed to flow for all the houses. I know in my area, they have a schedule they must adhere too. It may help to know where you fit in on the schedule.

  2. Super ugh! You need a fab vacation to get your mind off of it. Maybe by the time you get back they will finally have their act together. Hang in there!

    1. Exactly!! I agree! My husband and I decided late Thursday night to get away from it all! We packed the car Friday afternoon, shut the business down early and headed for a drive to Myrtle Beach for some fun in the SUN! We had a great time--it was so needed!

    2. I wish I could go on vacation! I've already been on three this year! I would probably just think about the house the whole time anyway.

    3. What!! Three vacations already this year! I have yet to go on one even!

That is super frustrating on the house though. Sorry to hear it is another day of weak progress :-(

    4. Same Thomas, haven't had one yet and doesn't look like one anytime soon (except maybe a few days to move or something).

Sorry to hear about your framing! That's something they're getting to fairly quickly for us fortunately (had a lot of slow downs earlier in the process).

  3. They need to send my framers to your house. My house is moving along too quickly. When we wanted RH to hurry, they were dragging their feet. Now, we need time to get our current house rented out and RH is speeding along!

  4. In our area Ryan uses Amish framers who are some of the hardest workers around. I would your PM how many framing crews does he have access to? I think the PM should be having a few more framing crews out in your development and at least two crews to get you caught up and back on schedule. The one thing that I always hear about in our area is how fast Ryan gets a house off the ground and framed. I know that your building in Ohio but I don't understand what is dragging this out for you.

    1. I asked him if we could get a new crew. He said no :(

  5. I don't know how you are keeping sane right now. It's incredible how your PM keeps promising you progress that isn't happening - progress that's clearly happening for your neighbors. The house next to us that was started 2 weeks after us has the first floor framed already. We have siding (our brick should have been up yesterday, but they haven't started yet). I just don't understnd how they could be so behind on your house. And I don't understand why your PM keeps giving you updates that never pan out to be true.

  6. CMM, I hope things turn around quickly for you. Stay positive!
Jesse and Lisa may have a point, as some Amish did some of the framing, they do great work however PM said they are impossible to reach.. Availability of some sub-contractors seemed to frustrate me greatly when a week of progress was lost. I wish you steady progress from here on out!
