More Brick!

The brick sure is going up fast on our house! They are doing such a great job too! Drywall was supposed to start yesterday and it still hasn't. I wonder what the hold-up is?

My house isn't crooked....I just suck at taking pictures apparently!
They were working on the middle section when I left! Garage is next!

Close-up shot. I always go at the worst time and the sun ruins my shots!

Even closer shot of the brick. It wraps this much around the side of the house instead of stopped at the edge of the front. If you're curious, it's called Virginia Vintage. We LOVE it!

I also learned today that the ceiling in our garage is insulated. That's great since our master bedroom is right above it! Now if only they would have just insulated the entire garage..... I might mention this on my RH survey. How much could insulation really cost? Would it kill them to put it on two more walls? This feels like a shortcut to me. At least they drywall the whole garage. There's that.

Garage ceiling insulation.

  1. That's a beautiful color of brick! There's just something about a brick house... :)

We asked our PM about insulating the entire garage at our pre-construction meeting and he said they are only supposed to insulate the areas with living space on the opposite side. Our bedroom goes partially over the garage but they won't insulate the entire ceiling -- they may not insulate any of the ceiling and I will be fighting for those extra few feet! I'd gladly pay for the extra insulation for the rest of the garage but they still wouldn't be able to do it.

    1. I would definitely fight for the insulation under the bedroom for sure. It seems so silly that they wouldn't just do the whole thing.

    1. Ever since I started blogging, I've been looking for someone else with the same brick! You will love it even more when they put it on your house! These pictures don't do it justice!

  3. That brick looks great. They just discontinued Browns Valley until further notice because of the inconsistencies with the samples. I'm glad we got to be a part of the mistake. We love the brick! :)

    1. They discontinued your brick!?! But it's gorgeous!! I love how it's shaped. Now your house will be more unique since no one else can get that brick anymore!

    1. Ask Greg before your dry wall goes up for complete insulation in the garage, in the meantime, Greg is on a two week vacation (check with Larry his sub) . You have time to put this request in with him before the dry wall goes up. Also, check out Thomas blog for the detail on how to insulate your garage door. It's very simple! I decided to tackle this DIY Project myself. lol My husband is the technician in the house and I am the interior designer, so this is going to be interesting and FUN!

  5. We were going to ask if we could insulate them ourselves but then I learned that the garage door isn't insulated. That defeats the whole purpose!

    1. Hi CMM, I believe it was Thomas, maybe Stuart or Sgt Rich or maybe even MikeP! LOL Have no idea--any whoo, one of them showed pictures of the insulated garage door. You can purchase it from Lowe's or Home Depot and it quite easy to install. I decided I would tackle this diy project myself. lol Sorry, I don't remember which person's blog--this was at the early stages of my blogging. I just have it on my list to pick up from the store after closing.
